Your world…Your rules! In Just Cause, you are a Latin field operative and specialist in regime change backed by top secret US government agency who will overthrow the corrupt government of San Esperito. It could be to your advantage that the tropical paradise is about to implode as various factions vie for power – it just needs a gentle nudge in the right direction.
Just Cause offers the freedom to tackle your assignments however you want: playing the island’s factions against one another, inciting a rebellion among the masses and building alliances with rebel forces and drug cartels. The action takes place in an incredibly detailed game world which consists of over 250,000 acres of mountains, jungles, beaches, cities and villages. The island can be explored by land, sea and air, as you will have at your disposal one of the most varied and exciting array of vehicles ever seen in a video game.

《正当防卫》是标榜高度自由的动作游戏，整个游戏风格类似超卖座的《GTA》，只不过游戏舞台不是在大都会，而是南美洲的一个小岛。在游戏中玩家扮演一个美国密探Rico Rodriguez，奉命前往南美洲核武危机，传闻有恐怖份子在一座小岛部署大量核武企图推翻当地政府，甚至将核武飞弹瞄准美国企图制造危机，为了阻止这项阴谋，玩家则必须潜入这个孤岛展开秘密破坏任务。 虽然游戏舞台在南美洲孤岛，不过整个游戏地图却广达1225平方公里，还有包含高山、森林、湖泊、海滩等地形，甚至还有一个临海小都市，而这广大的游戏地图都等待玩家自由探索。更有甚者，在这个孤岛中还有包含反政府军、毒枭等其他势力，玩家可以选择跟他们结盟或是对抗，而选择结盟势力不同，也会让游戏剧情变化。
